Overview
This course was developed as a remediation training for clinicians who had been involved with a medical error report within 90 days. While much of the information was review, Leaders wanted the learners to receive it in a new and engaging way. By using a variety of element blocks in the Articulate Rise authoring tool, learners were required to interact with the content instead of skipping by. The real star of this module, however, is the scenario based examples. I partnered with clinical trainers to create realistic and relevant storylines that targeted some of the most overlooked or violated policies. By adding a "choose your own adventure" element and a bit of levity, the gamified element brought learners into the processes in a way that appealed to knowledge as well as emotion and narrative thinking, to retain correct processes in a memorable way. A quiz at the end provided quantitative data that learners knew how to properly navigate tricky protocols in the clinic.
